From Animation to Architecture
I am from Ohio, where I spent my childhood working in cornfields, warehouses, and flea markets. When I moved into adulthood, I began teaching art classes to children and spent a lot of my free time camping through Kentucky and West Virginia. My path into design began soon after with storytelling and animation, working with Publicis Groupé New York on brands like Tide, Crest, Luvs, and Oral-B.
I found myself drawn to the thinking behind creating the advertising campaigns, I was interested in the human behaviors, the decisions, the “why.” I now spend the majority of my time diagramming, structuring, writing, and researching how complex products come together across devices. I can still make a pretty robust prototype, too. I have worked on large scale experiences, out of the headquartes of both Amazon and Kroger, helping shape how people interact with technology in a more connected way. I care deeply about building products that respect the people who spend their hard earned money on them and are extending their trust by bringing the devices into their homes.
These days, I am living on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State often flying a drone bedazzled in pink rhinestones, camping, or mapping efforts through geospatial data to support disaster response. My Midwestern roots still show up everywhere, especially in my kitchen where there is always a pot pie, casserole, or crock pot full of chili.
